On October 22nd, the Stateside welcomes Laboratorio back to the stage with a performance featuring Angélica Garcia, a versatile performer whose music has been featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk, NY Times year-end lists, and on Barack Obama’s annual best-of music list for her song "Jícama.” The wonderment of Garcia’s storytelling lies in harnessing the power of tradition and alchemizing it into the present, singing about the intersection of spirit and body. In addition, Laboratorio will be joined by Cat Cardenas, a writer and photographer whose work has appeared in the Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Texas Monthly (where she serves as the unofficial Selena correspondent). In her own compelling and unique voice, Cardenas’ writing covers entertainment, politics, and Latinx culture.
